On November 8, 2018, our Norwegian angel, Genevieve B. Moen (Bakken) was called to Heaven by our Heavenly Father. Genevieve was born September 9, 1927 in Hanlontown, IA. She was the daughter of Melvin Bakken from Silver Lake, Iowa and Bertina (Bjjaaland) Bakken from Laardal, Norway.

Genevieve went to two years of teacher's college and taught in a one room country school in Southern Minnesota.

She married Kenneth E. Moen, July 15, 1950 in Hanlontown, Iowa.

Genevieve and Ken moved to Belle Plaine and worked side by side farming and raising their family.

She is survived by daughter, Sherry (Ken) Pekarna; grandchildren, Tiffany (Justin) McKay, Tyler (Paige) Pekarna & Dustin Moen. Sisters, Sylvia Toney, Karen Predovich.  Brother, Duane (Joan) Bakken and brothers-in-law, Dale Wilmeth, Larry Predovich, and Richard Moen.  Her great grandchildren are Hazel McKay, Maxwell McKay, Andrew Moen & Paisley Pekarna. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ken; sons, Steven and David; grandson, Justin Moen; sisters, Thelma Hottel, Dena McDowall, Beverly Wilmeth. Brothers-in-law, Philip Hottel, Bill Toney, Tom McDowall, and Dale Moen.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, December 1, 2018. Visitation is 10:00 am. Service at 11:00 followed by lunch at St. John's Lutheran Church, 148 S. Chestnut St. Belle Plaine, MN. Private burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Belle Plaine, MN.
