Evelyn M. Kocina, age 92 of New Prague, died Friday, March 25, 2016 at Clare Bridge in North Oaks, MN. Funeral service will be 12:00 pm on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Czech National Cemetery in New Prague. Lunch to follow at the KC Hall in New Prague.
Evelyn was born on May 8, 1923 to William and Mary (Trcka) Tikalsky in New Prague. She graduated from New Prague High School in 1940. She married Joseph Kocina on June 2, 1945 at St. Wenceslaus Church in New Prague.
Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Shirley (Al) Gassman of New Prague, and Mary (Rodney) Rehor of Shoreview; grandchildren, Vicki (John) Miller of Virginia Beach, VA, Jon Rehor of Roseville, Jodi (Dan) Prchal of Montgomery, and Brenda (Ken) Fromm of New Hope; great- grandchildren, Eric and Reid Miller, Brian and Anna Prchal, Tyler and Derek Fromm; sister, Marian Peroutka of New Prague, and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Evelyn and Joe owned and operated two farms in New Prague and Montgomery. She was an extraordinary farmer, gardener and baker.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph in ’99; sisters, Eleanore (Alvin) Adamek, and Arvilla (James) Sirek; brother-in-law, Francis Peroutka; and sisters-in-law, Marcella (Eugene) Jirak, and Adeline (Art) Hoefs.
