Obituary

Eugene J. “Gene” Tupy, age 65, of New Prague died suddenly, surrounded by his family, at his home on Tuesday June 27, 2017.  Gene was born October 30, 1951 in New Prague to Joseph H. and Cecilia A. (Kes) Tupy.  He lived his entire life in New Prague, graduating from New Prague High School.  He served his country in the Army National Guard.  Gene married Elizabeth D. “Betty” Fitzke in New Prague on June 1, 1973.  Gene was a waste water operator for the City of New Prague and was also an avid hobby farmer.  He was a member of the 3 rd and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus in New Prague and served as director of KC Bingo for 20 + years.  Gene also enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, warm weather beach vacations with family and friends, playing cards (500, Euchre, and Svich), and just visiting with people.

Gene is survived by his wife Betty of New Prague; children Lisa (& Foster) Transburg of Northfield, Amy (& Chad) Heers of Lewes, Delaware, Joel (& Sue) Tupy of New Prague, David (& Shannon) Tupy of New Prague;sister LaVonne (& Ed) Cervenka of Medford; brother Allen C. (& Sue) Tupy of Eagan; and 9 grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Lucille Michael.

Mass of Christian Burial Saturday July 1, 2017 at 10 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague with Father David Barrett officiating, and Frs. Kevin Clinton and Roger Hessian con-celebrating.  Visitation Friday from 4 – 8 PM and Saturday morning from 7:30 – 9:30 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home.  Burial at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery with military honors conducted by the New Prague Veterans Honor Guard.  Lunch will follow at the New Prague Knights of Columbus Hall.
