Ervin “Babe” Turek, age 83, of Veseli, died Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Marie Steiner Hospice Home in Chaska. Babe was born October 4, 1930 in Wheatland Township, Rice County, MN to William T. & Julia A. (Hrabe) Turek. He attended Most Holy Trinity Catholic School and New Prague High School. On October 11, 1950, Babe married Sibila M. “Siby” Kaisershatt in Montomgery, MN and the couple made their home in Veseli, where they would raise their family and spend most of their nearly 64 years of married life. Babe was the owner/operator of the Massey Fergusson Dealership in Lonsdale for 48 years. In addition he worked for Turek Construction and operated a Marshall Wells Hardware Store. He had an 8-piece dance band, was a trustee at Frandsen Lonsdale Bank, was a founding member of the Lonsdale Lions Club, was a member of the Musicians Local, and advisor for Montgomery Golf Club, and a member of the Hunting and Fishing Association.
Babe is survived by his wife, Siby, of Victoria; son, Ervin M. “Junior” (& Joyce) Turek of Lonsdale; daughter, Debbie A. (& Keith) Thomas of Lakeville; grandchildren, Tanya (& Tim Luther), Trevor (& Sarah) Turek, Shannon (& Emily) Ziskovsky, Travis (& Melissa) Ziskovsky; great-grandchildren, Felicia, Seth, Lilly, Landon, Aubree, Samuel, Wyatt, & Lauren; sister, Julie Ann (& Joe) Leahy; brothers, William F. Turek, Gary M. (& Mary Jo) Turek. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Kathy Turek.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 28, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Veseli with Father John Lapensky officiating. Visitation will take place Thursday, March 27 from 4 – 8 PM and Friday morning from 7:30 – 9:15 at Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague. Burial will occur at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Veseli. Lunch will follow at the Lonsdale Legion Club.
