Ernest “Ernie” Tietz, age 66, of St. Clair, MN died Monday, May 26, 2014 at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, MN following an auto accident near Le Center, MN.  Ernie was born on July 5, 1947 in New Prague to Ewald and Lillian (Novak) Tietz.  He later served in the United States Army, serving in Vietnam from 1967 – 1971.  When he returned home, he worked at the New Prague Flour Mill for over 20 years.  He also worked other part time jobs.

Ernie is survived by his daughters, Sherry (Paul) Miller of Belle Plaine, MN, Sarah Jaeger of Jordan, MN, Shelly Schneider of Belle Plaine, MN; grandchildren, Josh Terrio, Jared Miller, Lauren Miller, Chase Emmers, & Mia Pribyl; mother, Lillian Doherty; siblings, Dahlia (Larry) Beno of Mound, MN, Terry (Pat) Tietz of Montgomery, MN, Becky (Tim) Freeman of Iowa, Steve (LeAnn) Tietz of California, and Matt Tietz (and special friend, Brook) of Kentucky.  He is preceded in death by his father, Ewald; step-father, Mel Doherty; niece, Robin Kline.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, June 1, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Frieden’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lanesburgh Township with Rev. Henry Koch officiating.  Visitation will be at the church from 1:00 – 3:00 PM.  Interment will follow services at the church cemetery with full military honors.
