Obituary

After sustaining a broken hip days earlier at his residence, Traditions of Montgomery, Elmer Winterfeldt passed quietly into Christ’s arms on Mother’s Day, May 11, 2014 at Mala Strana Health Care Facility.  He was 95.  The third son born to Fred and Katherine (Cermak) Winterfeldt, Elmer grew up in rural Lanesburgh Township, graduating from New Prague High School in 1938.  Two years later, he matted Helen Fahrenkamp in a double wedding celebrated with his oldest brother, Erwin, and Helen’s older sister, Laura.  The couple farmed locally near Lanesburgh until declining health forced them from their farm into Traditions of Montgomery in late  2010. Elmer is survived by his wife, Helen, of Montgomery and daughter, Iyla Winterfeldt of New Prague.

A private family service was held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Montgomery on Friday, May 16th.  Rev. Dr. Steve Trewartha of FaithPoint Lutheran Church, his pastor of 24 years, officiated.  Memorials are preferred to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Montgomery.
