Eldon L. Davidson, age 79, of New Prague, died unexpectedly on Friday, December 29, 2023, shortly after his arrival for a long-anticipated winter stay in Naples, Florida. Eldon was born on March 28, 1944, in Keokuk, IA to Clarence and Dovie (McCune) Davidson. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and attained his Bachelor of Arts Degree later in life. Eldon married Jean C. Kunz on March 15, 1964, in Sutter, Illinois. They made their home near Quincy, IL, and in 1988, moved to Minnesota. His profession was a computer programmer/analyst/consultant.
Eldon was a man whose morals and values directed his life. He had a strong work ethic, could figure anything out, and was persistent in solving problems. He was goal-driven and instilled that with those around him. He employed a resourcefulness that could find a use for anything. That resourcefulness translated into a deep knowledge in fixing things and built confidence in others with his ability to teach. Love for his family took priority in his life. He was very sentimental and always showed up for the little things. His gregarious nature made him a magnet for good conversations with people he'd meet. He loved the outdoors, which included hunting, fishing, shooting guns, and traveling. He left a legacy of kindness, connection, and a generous spirit.
Eldon is survived by his wife, Jean of New Prague; daughter, Kris (Ray) Martin of Eden Prairie; grandchildren, Tony (Allie) Cooley of Jordan & Stephanie Cooley (Tim) of Gaylord; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Cameron, Brooklyn, Jace, Conor, & Clara; nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Mark Todd Davidson; sister, Marge Barber.
Private family services will be held.
