Edgar Busch, age 83, of Waterville, formerly of New Prague, died Monday, October 28, 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital Mankato. Edgar was born February 6, 1930 in St. Benedict to Florian H. & Elizabeth (Hoffmann) Busch. He attended St. Benedict School. On June 10, 1958 he married Rose Marie Pieper at the Church of the Purification in Marystown, MN. The couple made their home in New Prague where Edgar was the co-owner of Busch Construction; he built many of the homes in the New Prague area. Edgar was a man of many talents: he could fix any clock, restored antiques, played trumpet in the Jordan Community Band, was an avid fisherman and card player, and enjoyed baseball. He is most notable, however, as a fabulous father and a loving husband.
Edgar is survived by his wife, Rose, of Waterville; children, Ken Busch of Shakopee, Ann (& Loren) Zweig of Lakewood, CO, Cheryl (& Mike) Hefty of Platteville, WI, Janine (& Hank) Maurer of Woodbury; son-in-law, Jeff Marthaler of Prior Lake; 7 grandchildren; brothers, Wilbert, Lando (& Gladys), Elgar (& Irene), Oliver (& Louise) all of New Prague; sister, Pauline Krenik of Lonsdale. He is preceded in death by daughter, Bonnie Marthaler; brother, Harold.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Tom Krenik and Father Kevin Clinton officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 4 – 8 PM and Saturday morning from 7:30 – 10:30 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home. Interment will be at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Loren Zweig, Mike Hefty, Hank Maurer, Nick Hefty, Mitch Hefty, Dona Marthaler; Honorary Pallbearers will be Kaitlyn Zweig, Hannah Zwieg, Halle Maurer, Zachary Maurer. Lunch will follow burial at the KC Hall in New Prague.
