Dorothy Sticha, age 85, of New Prague, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2012 at her home.  Dorothy was born December 6, 1926 in Erin Township, Rice County, MN to Frank J. & Anna (Herda) Tupy.  Dorothy attended Rice County District School and after her marriage to Joseph S. Sticha on November 6, 1944 in Veseli, MN, farmed with her husband in Cedar Lake Township; the couple were the fourth generation to farm that land! In her later years she worked as a cook at New Prague Elementary School and various bakeries in New Prague. Dorothy enjoyed traveling, playing cards, old time music, dancing, walking, & baking.  She loved especially family & friends and was a frequent visitor to the friends and relatives who were at Mala Strana Health Care Facility.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Dennis (& Jane) Sticha of Buffalo, Marvin (& LuAnn) Sticha of Elko, Monica (& Ken) Studnicka of New Prague, Dorothy “Dotty” (& Denny) VonBank of New Prague, Norbert Sticha of Lamberton, Jayne (& Charlie) Bartusek of Webster, Carrie (& Glen) Hoffman of New Prague; 24 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her husband on April 7, 1979; parents; son, Joseph E. Sticha; daughter, Shirley Sticha; daughter-in-law, Catherine Sticha; grandson, Dale VonBank; granddaughter, Melissa Sticha; brothers, Msgr. Joe Tupy, James, William, Frank W., & John; sisters, Rose Sticha, Anna Nerud, Mary R. Tupy, Lillian Petricka.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Church in New Prague with Fr. Kevin Clinton officiating.  Visitation will take place at Bruzek Funeral Home Monday from 4 – 8PM and Tuesday from 7:30 – 9:30 AM.  Burial will occur at St. John’s Cemetery in Veseli, MN. Lunch will take place at the KC Hall immediately after mass and before the burial.
