Dorothy C. Kucera, age 90, of New Prague, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, February 19, 2017, at Three Links Reflections in Northfield.  Dorothy was born on July 22, 1926, in Le Sueur, MN to Max and Elsa (Daehn) Fitzke.  She was raised in the Le Sueur area, attending a country district school.  Dorothy married Myles R. Kucera on June 3, 1946, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and the couple made their home on a farm near New Prague. Dorothy worked in many places in the New Prague area including Bilek’s Bakery, the Park Ballroom, the Golden Pheasant, and Green Giant.  Her longest tenure, however, was with M.V.E. where she was the lead person for the canister department and a spot welder.  In her leisure time, Dorothy belonged to a card group and bowled.  Her greatest love was time with her many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy is survived by nieces and nephews, Tom (Connie) Fitzke, Mary Zgonc, Betty (Gene) Tupy, Joan (LeRoy) May, Carol (Charles “Cap”) Peterson, Curt (Genise) Boettcher.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Myles on December 19, 2010; brothers, Theodore, Gordon, and Wally Fitzke; sisters, Carmen Boettcher, Ruth Nierenz, Maxine Fitzke (in infancy); nieces, Judy Solheid, Phyllis Krueger.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at 10:30 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home with Father Kevin Clinton officiating.  Visitation will be held starting at 9:00 AM until Mass time.  Burial will occur at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery followed by lunch at the Legion Clubroom.
