Dor Schoenecker, age 90, of Lonsdale, formerly of New Prague, died Sunday, February 16, 2014 at The Villages Apartments in Lonsdale, MN. Dor was born September 4, 1923 in New Prague to Edward J. & Martha D. (Kucera) Matyas. She attended St. Wenceslaus School and New Prague High School. Dor married Raymond J. Schoenecker on August 18, 1945 in New Prague and worked as a bookkeeper for the First National Bank of New Prague and Gehlen Jewelry Store of New Prague. Dor was a Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Leader, Past President of CCW, VFW Auxiliary Past President, Past President of New Prague Fire Dept. Auxiliary and also served many years as a member of the Queen of Peace Hospital Auxiliary. She loved to play cards and was a member of many Bridge Clubs. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and embroidery. Dor was an active golfer and loved to cook and bake.
Dor is survived by 4 children, Susan (& John) Bilek of Pine River, Ed (& Kathy) of Bloomington, Doug (& Vera) of New Prague, Mary Ray (& Paul) Jirik of Lonsdale; sister, Marge Palmstein Anthony of Prior Lake; 11 grandchildren & 7 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray on October 21, 2012.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 10:30 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague with Father Kevin Clinton officiating. Visitation will take place Wednesday from 4-8 PM and Thursday morning from 7:30 – 10:00 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home. Interment will be at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery at a later date. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Aaron, Evan, and Collin Schoenecker, Matthew Bilek, & Ryan & Michael Jirik. Gift bearers will be granddaughters, Andrea Young, Jennell Bilek, Nicole Schoenecker, Sara Ray McCombs, and Marie Pint. Jennel Bilek & Andrea Young will also serve as lectors. Lunch will follow mass at the KC Hall in New Prague.
