Donald F. Tupy, age 81, of New Prague, died peacefully Tuesday night, July 31, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. Don was born February 14, 1931 to William F. & Mary R. Tupy in Wheatland Township, Rice County.  He is a life long resident of the New Prague area and graduated with an AA Degree from the University of Minnesota and also attended the Marquette Financial Institute.  Don was Vice President of 1st National, Fidelity, and Marquette Banks in New Prague and retired after 35 years in New Prague banking. He was a member of both 3rd & 4th degree Knights of Columbus (served as treasurer for many years), Musicians Federation Organization; he was a clarinet & saxophone player for New Prague Czech Singers, New Prague Community Band, and many dance bands.  Don was also a member of the New Prague Historical Society and active with St. Wenceslaus Church as trustee.  Don loved reading books, discussing politics & religion.

Don is survived by his wife, Gladys; children, Shirley (& Roger) Studnicka of New Prague, Kathryn (& Greg) Jirik of Lonsdale, Marilyn (& Bill) Simon of Veseli, Steve (& Linda) Tupy of New Prague, Patricia David (& friend, Wayne Efta) of Montgomery, Mark (& Lynnette) Tupy of New Prague, 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers, George Tupy of Downey, CA, Bernard (& Lillian) Tupy of Northfield; sister, Rosemary Franek of New Prague.  He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Stanley (in infancy); Sisters-in-law, Evelyn Tupy and Martha Tupy; brother–in-law, Leonard Franek.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 10 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague.  Visitation will be held Monday from 4 – 8 PM and Tuesday from 7:30 – 9:30 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home.  Grandsons will serve as casketbearers and granddaughters will serve as lectors and gift bearers.  Interment will occur at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery.  Lunch will follow at the KC Hall in New Prague.
