Delores Dorothy Erickson, age 87, of MOntgomery passed away suddenly at Mayo Medical Center New Prague Saturday morning, January 19, 2013. She was a resident of the Jordan, New Prague, & Montgomery area most of her life.  Delores was the only child of William & Sylvia (Chromy) Dietz and was born in Lanesburgh Township on February 27, 1925.  She attended country & New Prague schools graduating in 1943.  After high school, she stayed with her aunt and uncle in Minneapolis while she attended the University of Minnesota.  Later she enrolled and graduated from the Parisian Beauty School.  She briefly worked in Minneapolis as a beautician until she joined fellow beautician Hedy (Mares) Joachim who operated Hedy’s Beauty Shop in Jordan.  Shortly thereafter, she bought the business from Hedy and renamed it Delores’ Beauty Shop, which she operated until 1976.  She married Donald “Tex” Erickson at Immanuel Methodist Church in Jordan on January 2, 1954.  Delores was active in Jordan Cub Scouts, serving as Scoutmaster for several years, and was awarded Indianhead Council Scouter of the Year for 1968.  She was also active at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Jordan and was Chair of the Board of Trustees at that church in 1976.  Later in life she traveled extensively with family & friends to destinations in the US, Europe, and the Caribbean.

Delores is survived by a son, Dwight & Olga of Woodbury; granddaughter, Eleanor; sister-in-law, Madelyn Gardner of Plymouth; two nieces & two nephews; uncle, Alvin Chromy of Montgomery; several cousins.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald “Tex” and her parents.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 11 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home with visitation 2 hours prior.  Interment will occur at the Czech National Cemetery in New Prague.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Mayo Foundation.  Lunch follows interment at the KC Hall in New Prague.
