Delaine Wolf, age 84, of New Prague, died Monday, May 6, 2013 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Delaine was born May 26, 1928 in Chaska to Joseph & Hildegard (Eiden) Wickenhauser. She graduated from Guardian Angels Catholic School in Chaska and married George W. Wolf on November 17, 1951 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Chaska. Delaine spent her entire life in food service as a cook at St. Benedict School, New Prague Schools, part-time at the Park Ballroom. She was Director of Food Services for Jordan Public Schools and became known by many New Prague and Jordon children as the “lunch lady”. She also worked in food service for a short time at the Women’s Prison in Shakopee. Delaine was active with the St. Benedict CCW and the New Prague Prairie Quilters – her quilts have been donated to Mary Jo Copeland’s Caring and Sharing Hands Organization and Veteran groups among others, including family and friends. Delaine loved to bake, cook, and garden and enjoyed playing cards.
Delaine is survived by her husband, George of New Prague; children, Neil of New Prague, Norman (& Joanne) of St. Peter, Jean (& Steve) Sinell of Shakopee, Brian (& Diane) of Montgomery, Bruce (& Becky) of New Prague, LeeAnn Wolf of Cedar Rapids, IA, Darrell (& Kari) of North Mankato; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers, Glenn (& Lorraine) Wickenhauser and Joseph Wickenhauser both of Chaska; sister, Aldean (& Daniel) Steinhagen of Waconia. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, May 9th at 10:00 AM at St. John’s Catholic Church in Union Hill with Father Dave Barrett officiating. Visitation Wednesday from 4 – 8 PM and Thursday from 7:30 – 9:30 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague. Burial will take place at St. Benedict Cemetery in St. Benedict and lunch will follow at the KC Hall in New Prague.
