Delores A. "Dee" Nelson, age 83, of New Prague, died peacefully at her home on Monday, January 8, 2024. Dee was born on August 25, 1940, in Brainerd, to William and Irma (Anderson) Lenzen. She proudly grew up on the Iron Range and graduated from Hibbing High School. She married Charles A. "Rocky" Nelson on May 1, 1965, in Minneapolis and the couple began their life in Minneapolis and moved to New Prague in June 1974. Dee owned and operated, along with her husband, Helm Electric and Highlander Center, the laundromat in New Prague. Dee had an adventurous spirit, loving nothing more than spending time with her family and friends, whether it was fishing with her sisters or jaunts finding adventures with special people who enriched her life. She was talented, painting ceramics in her younger years which included a beautiful nativity scene and enjoyed gardening once she moved to the hobby farm in New Prague. Her humble, gentle nature has left a rich legacy and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Dee is survived by many nieces and nephews and their families, including Terry (Mike) McLafferty, Trish (Mike) Hogan, Patrick Lenzen, and great-nephew, Patrick McLafferty; many friends, including John Moosbrugger. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rocky on November 11, 2017; parents; siblings, Gina Sheridan, Dorothy Dillon, William Lenzen, Jr, Robert Lenzen; special friend, Jean Hartmann.
