David Lapic, age 55, of Rosemount, formerly of New Prague, died Saturday, January 11, 2014 at his residence in Rosemount.  David was born December 16, 1958 in New Prague to Leonard A. & Luella M. (Choudek) Lapic.  He attended St. Wenceslaus School and New Prague High School and went on to graduate from the University of Minnesota.  He worked as an accountant for the Minnesota Zoological Gardens.  David’s life blossomed as an adult.  Annual road trips to watch his Minnesota Gopher football teams, marathon runs, table top tennis tournament victories and bike rides across the state of Minnesota were balanced with cherished time spent with his family in New Prague.  In 2000, David sustained a traumatic brain injury while jogging to work that changed his life and the lives of his family and friends.  The brain injury could not take away David’s sense of humor and his desire to do things his way; throughout his life, David was defined by his love for family and friends, an amazing level of endurance, and a strong underlying faith.  The family is grateful to the caregivers of Turning Point, the staff of Midwest Special Services and T. for their dedication and care.  Memorials are preferred to the Turning Point Home of Howry Residential or Midwest Special Services.

David is survived by his mother, Luella Lapic of New Prague; sister, Denise (& John) Murphy of Eden Prairie; brother, Dale (& Kathy) Lapic of New Prague; 8 nieces and nephews; his turning Point roommates and caregivers; former wife, Jayne; many friends.  He is preceded in death by his father Leonard Lapic.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Friday, January 17, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home with Father Kevin Clinton officiating.  Visitation will take place 2 hours prior to mass from 9:00 – 11:00 AM.  Burial will occur at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery with Tyler Lapic and Margaret Murphy serving as urn bearers.  Lunch will follow at the Legion Clubroom in New Prague.
