Daniel James McConnell, 54, of New Prague, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly on October 16, 2026.

Dan was born on October 17, 1971, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Douglas and Victoria McConnell. He will be remembered as a loving and protective husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, dedicated son and brother, and loyal friend whom others could always count on.

Dan’s genuine, grounded, and supportive nature touched everyone who knew him. He was resilient, patient, and known for his playful sense of humor. Whether spending time with family, helping others, or sharing a laugh, Dan lived his life with honesty, integrity, and heart. An award-winning salesman, he earned the respect of colleagues and customers through his dedication, and ability to build lasting relationships.

Dan proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Richmond K. Turner from 1990 to 1992 and served during Operation Desert Storm. He carried the values of service, honor, and commitment throughout his life.

Above all else, family was Dan’s greatest joy. He especially cherished his role as a hands-on and fun-loving grandfather and took immense pride in the lives and accomplishments of those he loved.

Dan is survived by his wife of 32 years, Joleen McConnell; his children, Ashlin Rippentrop (Patrick) and Bradley J. McConnell (Emma); his beloved grandchildren, Avarie, Jameson, and Leighton; his father, Douglas McConnell; and his brother, Brian McConnell (Sara).

He was preceded in death by his mother, Victoria McConnell, and his brother, Michael McConnell.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dan’s life on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at the Lonsdale American Legion, 115 2nd Avenue NW, Lonsdale, MN 55046. Full military honors will be presented at 1:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life in the Legion Hall until 4:00 p.m.
