Dan Kamish, age 85, of New Prague, died Thursday, May 8, 2014, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Dan was born March 16, 1929 in New Prague to Rudolph P. and Catherine E. (Matyas) Kamish. He attended New Prague Public Schools and went on to attend St. Thomas College and the University of Minnesota before entering flight training, which would lead to his career as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. He retired as a Major after 20 years of service. In his retirement, Dan worked for the New Prague Fitness Center. He loved, golf, baseball, and fishing.
Dan is survived by his 5 children, Mark Kamish (& Patricia Garcia) of Indianapolis, Paul (& Victoria) Kamish of Minneapolis, David Kamish of Bloomington, Michael (& Mary Jo) Kamish of New Prague, Anne (& Bruce) McFarlan of Minneapolis; 8 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary; parents; brothers, Robert & Marvin Kamish; sisters, Mary Forsythe, Adeline Musil, Avis Proud, Helen Carel, Jane Linquist.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 9:30 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Kevin Clinton officiating. Visitation will occur Monday from 4 – 8 PM at Bruzek Funeral Home. Burial will occur at a later date at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Lunch will follow Mass at the Park Ballroom in New Prague.
