Curtis McClintock, age 73, of New Prague, passed away peacefully at Northfield Long Term Care Center, on Tuesday, November 24, 2015, after his struggle with cancer, with his wife by his side.
Curt was born July 23, 1942 in Long Branch, New Jersey to Elmer and Marie (Sanford) McClintock. He attended several different schools and graduated from Richfield High School. After high school he attended Northwest TV and Electronics. He entered the U.S. Army Reserves in 1964. After 30 years of service he retired, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. He was presented with The Meritorious Service Medal for his excellent leadership skills. In 1965, Curt started his career with Northwestern Bell Telephone, retiring in 2002, from Qwest Communications, which is now Century Link, after 38 years of service. After traveling for a year, he decided to drive as a substitute bus driver for First Student in Oakdale, MN. In 2005, he continued to drive as a sub for New Prague School District #721.
Curtis married Diane M. Horejsi on July 23, 1992 at The Little Brown Church, in Nashua, Iowa. They lived in Montgomery and Cottage Grove, before moving to New Prague in 2005.
Curt was a 48-year member of the American Legion Post 2 in Shakopee, serving as commander twice. Curt loved spending time with family and friends. He liked to listen to music, dance, taking road trips, and especially loved driving bus. He always made trips fun and got the children home safely.
Curtis is survived by his wife, Diane McClintock of New Prague; children, Lynn (& Chase) Rankin of Gilbert, AZ, Gary Lingsweiler (& Jenny Kovarik) of Montgomery, Kristi Lingsweiler (& Fiance, Jesse Hentges) of Burnsville; grandchildren, Samantha Lingsweiler, Cale Squires, Madison & Caden Rankin; sister, Marcia (& Rod) Olson of Tucson, AZ; brothers, Jeffrey (& Christine) McClintock of Port Charlotte, FL and David McClintock of Tucson, AZ; sisters-in-law, Donna (Donnie) Coughlin of Montgomery, Dalleen (Eddie) Sticha of New Prague, Virginia Horejsi of Montgomery; brothers-in-law, Donald (Nancy) Horejsi of New Prague, Dallas (Marsha) Horejsi, Duane (Bev) Horejsi, Darrell (Sharon) Horejsi all of Montgomery; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Elmer & Marie; brother, Steven McClintock; parents-in-law, Charles & Leona Horejsi; brother-in-law, Dennis Horejsi; two nephews; and his grandparents.
Memorial service 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at Ft. Snelling Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Dr. Kenneth Beale, Chaplain, officiating. Visitation Tuesday from 4 – 8 PM at Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague and 1 hour prior to service at the Chapel. Burial will follow service with full military honors at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
