Charles E. Holen "Chuck", age 82, of Webster, died peacefully with his family at his side on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Mayo System Health Care Hospital Mankato. Charles was born on June 14, 1941 in Havana, North Dakota to John "Chris" and Alice (Udelhofen) Holen. He was raised and attended public schools in Forman, ND. He met and married Diann Resler on October 27, 1962 and they were blessed with 57 years of marriage and 5 children and several grandchildren. Charles was an entrepreneur who began a machine manufacturing company with his sister, Stasia, and her husband, Jim Thew. They co-owned Bro-Machine successfully for 44 years. Charles was a proud free mason, attaining his 50-year pin and a member of Ducks Unlimited. He was a man of integrity and honesty, always telling it straight! He had a quick wit and a sharp mind! His top priority was his family, supporting his children and grandchildren throughout their lives. Charles was an avid hunter, even bagging a record moose! He enjoyed collecting many things and classic cars. His passion for travel led him on a mission: he took a '54 Chevy to every continental U.S. state, even leaving a hubcap in New York to mark that state! His son, Darin, and one of the grandkids accompanied him on every one of these trips! His children and grandchildren are richer for having a beloved grandfather.
Charles is survived by his children, Brenda (Gene) Thielbar of Montgomery, Bradley Holen of Webster, Chris (Jenine) Holen of Savage, Darcy Holen of Lakeville, Darin Holen of Webster; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Stella Bell of Forman, ND & Kay Alstrom of Lakeville. He is preceded in death by his wife, Diann on March 14, 2020; grandson, baby Chris; parents; sisters, Judy Grothe & Stasia Thew Danielson.
