Cecilia Kane, age 94, of New Prague, died Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital New Prague.  Cecilia was born July 21, 1920 in Derrynane Township, Le Sueur County to Joseph & Eva (Dorzinski) Gill.  A lifelong resident of the New Prague area, Cecilia attended country school and graduated from Mckinley High School in Le Center in 1938.  She married J. Russell Kane on October 15, 1940 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lexington.  Cecilia was a homemaker, raising her family of 5 children after Russell’s untimely death in 1964.  Cecilia was a member of St. Wenceslaus CCW and the New Prague Senior Citizens.  She loved cooking and baking, sewing, playing cards, and birds.  Faith and family were the top priorities in her life and all activities revolved around those values.

Cecilia is survived by daughters, Karen (& Wayne) Brenke of Belle Plaine, Patricia Kane of Belle Plaine, Joan Larson of New Prague; daughter-in-law, Anita Kane of New Prague; son-in-law, Bill Turek of Lonsdale; brothers, Joseph Gill of West St. Paul, Norbert (& Betty) Gill of Belle Plaine; sister, Rose Mary Gill of New Prague; sisters-in-law, Agnes Gill of Le Sueur, Joyce Gill of Miwaukee, WI, Mary Ann Gill of Belle Plaine; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her husband, J. Russell Kane on October 19, 1964; son, Kevin Kane; daughter, Kathy Turek; son-in-law, Alton Larson; granddaughter, Megan Kane; brothers, Alois, Hilary, & Alphonse Gill; sisters, Beatrice Stepan, Gertrude (in infancy).

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Church with Father David Barrett officiating.  Visitation will take place 2 hours prior to Mass at church from 9 – 11.  Lunch will follow mass at the Legion Clubroom in New Prague and then burial will occur at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Belle Plaine.
