Braden Joseph Flicek, age 9, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 10, 2016, at Minneapolis Children’s Hospital.  Braden was born November 8, 2006 in Shakopee, MN to Craig M. and Kristin M. (Sticha) Flicek.  Braden was raised in New Prague and was currently a 3 ^rd grader at Falcon Ridge Elementary School in New Prague.  He was diagnosed with cancer 3 years ago but lived life to the fullest and was an inspiration to all who knew him.  He was  a consummate people-person, never complaining, and always willing to join in with any activity.  Braden loved anything to do with sports, from hockey to basketball to baseball to playing catch with his dad and brothers.  He always wanted to play tag, “You’re It.” He was a Lego master and this helped pass a lot of the time spent at the hospital. ” Braden made it known  that his best buddy was his twin brother, Cole.   He loved playing with family, cousins, and friends.

Braden is survived by his loving parents, Craig & Kristin Flicek of New Prague; siblings, Cole, Ella, Ethan, & Jack; grandparents, Norm and Denie Sticha of Elko and Mark & Carol Flicek of Lonsdale; great-grandparents, Jeanette Sticha , Mildred Flicek, Clara Nohava all of Lonsdale.  He is preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Bohumil Sticha, Ralph Flicek, Francis Nohava, Norbert & Viola Weiers.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, April 14, 2016, at 11:00 AM at the Church of St. Patrick of Cedar Lake in St. Patrick (rural Jordan) with Father Michael Miller officiating.  Visitation will take place Wednesday from 4-8 PM and Thursday from 7:30 – 10:00 AM all at Bruzek Funeral Home.  Burial will occur in St. Patrick Cemetery immediately followed by lunch in the church social hall.  Those planning to come to the visitation, feel free to come in sports attire.
