Bonnie Bakken, age 55, of Winthrop, died Friday, November 8, 2013, at The Lodge on Natchez Hospice in Elko, MN. Bonnie was born June 10, 1958 to Raymond Maher & Loralee Riley in West St. Paul, MN. She was raised in Richfield where she graduated from Richfield High School. Bonnie lived in many states of the U.S. and throughout Minnesota but most recently in Winthrop. She worked as a cook in various establishments including Hobber’s Hwy 99 Bar & Grill in St. Peter, Kokomo’s in Cleveland, Shoreland Country Club in St. Peter, and Neisen’s Bar & Grill in Biscay, MN. Bonnie loved horseback riding, jewelry making, wind surfing, and antiquing.
Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Tami Bakken (& Special Friend, Greg Pint) of New Prague; granddaughters, Breann, Hailey, MacKenzie; mother, Loralee (& Eugene) Weiss of South St. Paul; brothers, Bradley Weiss of Oakdale & Bryan Weiss of South St. Paul; former husband, Michael (& Lori) Bakken of Mound, MN. She is preceded in death by an uncle, Rudy Riley.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at 8:00 PM with a visitation 2 hours prior starting at 6:00 PM at Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague. Chaplain Jean Johnson with Hospice Advantage of Lakeville will conduct the services. Burial will take place at a later date at Newport Cemetery in Newport, MN.
