Beverly Shuck, age 75, of New Prague, formerly of Sioux City, IA, died Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Mala Strana Health Care Center in New Prague. Bev was born May 18, 1937 in Sioux City, IA to Oscar and Blanche (Den Hartog) Van Vick. Bev was raised in Sioux City and attended Central High School there. She married Ronald J. “Bud” Shuck on February 27, 1958 in Dakota City, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Sioux City, where she was a grocery store clerk for 35 years. After retiring, they moved to New Prague in 1992. She was a member of the Sioux City Police Auxilliary. She and Ron made over 20 trips to Disney World and the Florida beaches, where collecting shells, particularly sand dollars, was a favorite past-time.
Bev is survived by her husband, Bud of New Prague; children, Rich & Marg Shuck of Hinton, IA, Pam Meyer of New Prague; Grandchildren, Jeremiah, Jennifer, Jordan, Adam, Jack; Great-Grandchildren, Sadie, Blake, Tyler, Laney; Sisters, Carole Grote of New Prague, Millie & Rich Groeneweg of Coto De Casa, CA. She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar & Blanche Van Vick and grandson, Jason Jeffords.
A Memorial Service for Bev will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Steve Trewartha presiding. Visitation will occur from 10 – 11 AM. There will be a lunch following at Classic Grille and Bar.
