Aurelia Mares, age 97, of New Prague, died Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at Mala Strana Health Care Center. Aurelia was born January 14, 1917 in Union  Hill, MN to John J. and Adeline M. (Busch) Schoenecker.  She attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School in New Prague and worked for various insurance companies in Minneapolis before her marriage to Theophil G. “Toby” Mares on June 22, 1968 in New Prague.  After marriage, the couple moved first to Jordan and finally to New Prague.  Aurelia was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, St Wenceslaus CCW, and the Third Order Franciscans.  She was a woman of deep faith and had a deep love for her family.

Aurelia is survived by her sister, Lorraine Dvorak of Minneapolis and many nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Toby, on November 20, 2000; brother, Raymond Schoenecker; sisters, Lillian Quinlan, Verena Moriarity.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home with Father David Barrett officiating.  Visitation will take place 2 hours prior to Mass from 9:00 – 10:45 AM.  Burial will occur at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery and lunch will follow at the KC Hall.
