Obituary

Adeline Wieland, age 96, of Heidelberg, died Sunday, April 24, 2016, surrounded by her family as Father David Barrett was administering Last Rites at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center in New Prague.  Adeline was born on June 28, 1919, in Le Center, MN to Joseph and Margaret (Walker) Unger.  She was raised in Le Center and graduated from Le Center High School.  Adeline married Martin F. Wieland on September 19, 1940 in Le Center and the couple then farmed near Heidelberg, where they raised their 5 children and Adeline sold chickens and eggs.  Her hard work on the farm resulted in a life-long love of cooking for others. In addition, she loved to quilt.

Adeline is survived by her children, Bonnee (Bill) Hlavac of Montgomery, Judeen Vlasak Brown of Dundas, Sandra (Tom) Vlasak of New Prague, Mitzie Miller of Olathe, KS, Ronnie (Wendy) Wieland of New Prague; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Martin Wieland on December 29, 2003; her father, Joseph Unger; step-father, Charles Hoffman; mother, Margaret Unger Hoffman; grandson, Greg Allen Hlavac; great-grandson, Aaron Pauly; sons-in-law, Roger Vlasak & Roger Brown.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 29, 2016, at 10:00 AM at St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Heidelberg, with Father David Barrett officiating.  Visitation will occur 2 hours prior to Mass from 8:00 to 10:00 AM also at church.  Burial will occur at the church cemetery after Mass followed by lunch at the Legion Clubroom in New Prague.
