Obituary

Adeline Sobczak, age 91, of New Prague, died suddenly at her home Tuesday, February 25, 2014.  Adeline was born on October 25, 1922 in Stearns County, Minnesota to Gerhard  J. & Mary (Schmitz) Buescher.  She was raised in Stearns County, where she graduated from high school, and moved to New Prague in 1946.  Adeline worked as a bookkeeper for Catholic Workman Fraternal Insurance for 37 years; on July 23, 1966, she married Bernard J. “Ben” Sobczak in St. Benedict, where the couple would make their home.  Adeline belonged to the Schmitt Music Organ Club and got great enjoyment from playing the organ.  In fact, she “loved everything” and always had a smile on her face.  Hobbies included sewing, cooking, crafts, soap-making, and wine-making.  She loved cats and meeting people and especially enjoyed going out to eat.

Adeline is survived by her husband, Ben, of St. Benedict.  She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Julia Memkin, brother, Raymond Buescher.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home with Father Kevin Clinton officiating.  Visitation will take place 1 hour prior to Mass.  Burial will occur at St. Benedict Catholic Cemetery in St. Benedict, MN.  Lunch will follow at the Legion Clubroom in New Prague.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Wenceslaus School.
