Adeline Simon, age 87, of New Prague, died Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Mala Strana Health Care Center. Adeline was born May 19, 1927 in Frazee, MN to Albert and Lillie (Walk) Schultz. She attended Public Schools in Frazee, then worked as a waitress until she met a dentist, who asked her to work as his assistant, which she did in Moorhead, MN for 11 years. She married Stanley F. Simon on November 22, 1952 in Moorhead and the couple moved to New Prague in 1954. Adeline worked with her husband at Anthony’s Store, at Queen of Peace Hospital, McMahon’s Snyder Drug, and at NPHS as a cook. During her children’s early years, she served as both a Cub Scout Den Leader and as a Girl Scout Leader. She was active in St. Wenceslaus CCW, Queen of Peace Hospital Auxiliary, Friends of the Library, and the Senior Citizens. She walked everywhere, loved to read, and most importantly, was very much a “people person”.
Adeline is survived by her children, Barb Simon of Brainerd, Bruce Simon of Lonsdale, Annie & Butch Sirek of Lonsdale; brother, Rudy Schultz of CA; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Stanley on January 24, 2010; parents; siblings, Frank, Leroy, Floyd, and Clarence Shultz, Alice Purcell, Evelyn Carlson, Tiny Schultz, and Viola Meyers.
A Communion Funeral Service will be held Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Bruzek Funeral Home with Deacon Bob Wagner officiating and with a visitation 1 hour prior to service. Burial will take place at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery.
