Adeline Kubes, age 85, of New Prague, died Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Mala Strana Health Care Center in New Prague. Adeline was born November 18, 1928 in Union Hill, MN to Joseph P. & Elizabeth (Nickolay) Barten. She grew up in the Union Hill area and attended school there. On May 6, 1950, also in Union Hill, Adeline married Arthur A. Kubes. The couple farmed their farm northeast of New Prague until 2000 when they moved into New Prague. For many years, Adeline worked at Master Specialty in Savage. She was a member of a Homemaker’s Club and many card clubs. Adeline enjoyed embroidery, playing cards, bird-watching, cooking, going to the cabin up north, and especially time with her family.
Adeline is survived by her children, Karen (& Fritz) Nerud of New Prague, Marilyn (& Ron) Vesely of Webster, Marvin (& Mary) Kubes of New Prague, Susan (& Ralph) Michel of Lonsdale, John Kubes of Louisiana; 17 Grandchildren; 23 Great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Leona Barten of Belle Plaine. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur on November 7, 2000; her parents; brothers, Andrew, William, & Lawrence Barten; sisters, Sally Deutsch, Regina Kohn, Genevieve Barten.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 29, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague with Father Dave Barrett officiating. Visitation will take place Thursday from 4 – 8 PM and Friday morning from 7:30 – 9:30 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home. Burial will occur at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. Lunch will follow at the KC Hall in New Prague.
