Obituary

Adeline A. Bisek, age 98, of New Prague, died Friday, May 16, 2014 at Mala Strana Health Care Facility.  Adeline was born July 25, 1915 in Wheatland Township, Rice County to Charles and Josephine (Hruza) Sticha.  She attended country school in Veseli and was a lifelong resident of the Veseli/New Prague area. She married William C. Bisek on September 9, 1930 at Most Holy Trinity Church in Veseli.  Adeline worked as a salesperson at Remes Drug in New Prague for 27 years and also worked with her husband in various businesses including taverns in Veseli and Webster and Bisek Grocery in New Prague.  She was active in the New Prague Czech Singers, serving as their leader for 17 years and was a charter member of the Czech Dancers. She belonged to the Red Hats Club, the VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, and St. Wenceslaus Choir and CCW.  Adeline also took an active part with the New Prague Snowdrifters, serving as treasurer and taking charge of their fundraising breakfast for many years as well as the Montgomery Snowbusters.  She was a past Grand Marshall of the New Prague Dozinky Festival parade.  Adeline loved fishing and playing euchre and bridge.  She taught the Czech language to local residents and hosted many travelers from the Czech Republic.

Adeline is survived by her son, Ralph (& Gladys) Bisek of New Prague; daughter, Shorty Dietz of Montgomery; brother, Donald “Tiny” Sticha of Faribault; sister-in-law, Marcie Sticha of Chicago; 5 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill on June 11, 1999; son-in-law, Lee Dietz; grandson, Tony Dietz; brothers, Frank & Charlie Sticha; sisters, Emma Kalina, Mary Skluzacek, Elsie Smisek.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 10 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father David Barrett officiating.  Visitation will occur Tuesday, May 20th from 4 – 8 PM and Wednesday morning from 7:30 – 9:30 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home.  Interment will take place at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery.  Great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers and the great-granddaughters as honorary pallbearers.  Lunch will follow at the Park Ballroom.
